IAM issued a press release recently titled "Watch out for joggers" which included the following advice:
"- In country roads remember there may be runners just round any bend"
"- Look for signs of distraction - are they wearing earphones ?"
"- Be prepared for them to make unexpected changes of direction without looking first"
Hopefully we are already doing this, but with triathlons and Ironman events now attracting competitors in the thousands this means there are many inexperienced runners and cyclists on our roads. There is a major one this September in Weymouth and the surrounding countryside. So watch out for runners, who generally stick to pavements, and more importantly cyclists, often two abreast and mimicking Bradley Wiggins but forgetting that the roads are not closed to other traffic as they cycle with heads down to maximise their speed !
Sunday Ride Out - Portland Crab Sandwiches
An enjoyable ride out which passed through some lovely villages, beautiful scenery and best of all, lots of new routes for some on the ride. The brilliant weather made up for the disappointment of missing out on a crab sandwich lunch.
