Betws y Coed:
The 2016 DWDAM Wales tour was based in Betws y Coed and stayed in The Royal Oak Hotel. The latter proved a huge success so much so that the plan is to use the same venue for part of the 2017 tour. The Royal Oak Hotel has offered a special Bed & Breakfast rate in the Stables Lodge with only a £5 increase on their 2016 tariff. The advised / updated rates for 2017 are as follows:
B & B Rates (full English breakfast):
2 sharing a double or twin room on a B&B basis - £47.50 pppn (£95 per room).
Single occupancy in a double room on a B&B basis - £80 pppn
Half Board Rates (full English breakfast and a 3 course dinner):
A special half board rate of £20 per person per day will be available for those who wish to take advantage.
Note: The half board rate of £20 is for a 3 course dinner taken in the Grill Room. This can also be used towards dinner in the Llygwy Restaurant. With any of the above options, Royal Oak Hotel guests receive complimentary car (motorcycle) parking and Wfi. Breakfast and dinner will be taken in the main hotel.
The tour will be based in Kirby Stephen, Westmorland. It will be accommodated on a B&B basis (to include a full English breakfast) in the 'Jolly Farmers'. The tariff will be as follows:
2 sharing a double or twin room - £39 pppn.
3 double rooms available for single occupancy - £50 pppn.
Additional double rooms taken for single occupancy will be at £60 pppn
Evening Meals: The proprietor of the 'Jolly Farmers' has offered to provide dinner on a couple of nights if required - good home cooking. There are however ample alternative evening dining locations in Kirby Stephen.
The 'Jolly Farmers' has secure (uncovered) off road motorcycle parking. WFi is available throughout
Note: In August 2016 CW Riders Club undertook a tour of Wales and Cumbria. They stayed at the Royal Oak Hotel, Betws y Coed and the 'Jolly Farmers' at Kirby Stephen. The CW Riders Club tour organiser and leader I have spoken with was full of praise for the 'Jolly Farmers' and added that they used it in previous years when touring the area.
The Royal Oak Hotel is presently holding 10 rooms for our use in the Stables Lodge. However, this accommodation and dates can only be held until the end of September 2016. A deposit of 10% will be required to secure the booking as soon as I am in a position to confirm numbers.
Rooms at the 'Jolly Farmers' are booked pending confirmation by the end of September 2016. Once confirmed, a deposit of £25 pppn will be required.
Those who wish to join the tour are requested to declare their intentions to Brian Purnell, on a first come, first served basis, along with their accommodation preference (double / twin sharing or single occupancy) no later than 30 September 2016. Further tour details and B&B accommodation payment arrangements will be made to known to confirmed tour bookings in due course. Brian can be reached by email at: email@example.com.
