Twelve DWDAM members met at Top of Town car park, Dorchester for a 9.30am start with aim of arriving at Dart Farm Village for brunch followed by an hour or so at Bridge Motorcycles for some new bike browsing.
After early morning rain, the sun came out and stayed with the ride for the rest of day. The route was via the Jurassic coast road taking in Portesham, Abbotsbury Hill, where our intrepid Events Organiser LA was stationed with her camera to take some great shots as the group rode past.
Onto Bridport and then Lyme Regis to pick up the A3052 to Clyst St Mary. Although a little windy, road conditions were pretty good with ample opportunities to make steady progress. Not long after passing through Clyst St Mary, Topsham and Dart Farm was soon reached and once parked up, we headed for the restaurant.
Following a hearty brunch and a browse around the Village, five members returned home so that they could watch the Ireland v England Rugby game at 3pm whilst the rest of us headed on the short fifteen minute ride to Bridge Motorcycles, Marsh Barton.
A good hour was spent browsing and sitting on some new Yamaha, Kawasaki, Triumph and Honda models. Quite a few of us took a fancy to the new Yamaha MT-09 Tracer although the rider's seat was a bit hard - not ideal for long distance riding. By 1.45pm we were on our way back to Dorset and believe it or not, we also made it back indoors to watch the rugby (such a pity England lost !!). Door to door some 125 miles - all in all, a most enjoyable ride out in almost perfect conditions with some very interesting stops.
Thanks to Brian Purnell for organising and leading the ride.
