Neil Fuller’s 2017 Trip to Brittany.
My local IAM RoadSmart membership is with Norfolk Advanced Motorcyclists (NAM), so I count myself as fortunate to have been able to join Neil’s weekend trips to France for each of the past three years. My two brothers are with dwdam; hence I go along as ‘guest’ brother!
Neil (very ably assisted by Cheryl) has a winning formula as trip leader. He has an idea for a trip and then goes on an early recce visit to check it out and to hone the detail. This results in great roads for bikers (without riding hard and long), interesting sites and places to visit, sensible and comfortable accommodation, and great restaurants for meals out together in the evening. The trip to Rennes was a good example of this with its ‘French Resistance’ theme including a couple of very interesting visits to local museums of the movement, which was very strong and active in Brittany. The overnight outward ferry worked extremely well as did the hotel in the centre of Rennes. Coupled with the walk through the City and two very agreeable restaurant meals, it proved to be another really enjoyable and interesting trip.
Neil also brings his amenable personality, which is so evident in his leadership approach. With this, he cuts right through all of the potential little squabbles and irritations, which can arise from alternative views and preferences of those involved, which are typical of clubs and voluntary organisations. We three brothers take a lead from Neil, which means that we ague very little these days!
So, many thanks and great respect Neil! It was another great biking trip!
